Heike Klippel

Heike Klippel (born 1960)¹ is a German film and media scholar. She teaches at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig (Braunschweig University of Art),² is one of the editors of the journal Frauen und Film (“Women and Film”)³ and was among the founding members of the Kinothek Asta Nielsen e. V.⁴

Career

From 1980 onwards, Klippel studied German studies, philosophy, sociology, and theatre, film and television studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main. While her master’s thesis still dealt with texts (topic: “Das private Tagebuch – Überlegungen zu Alltagstexten” [“The private diary – reflections on everyday texts”]), she turned to film in her doctorate.
